Identifying the Perpetrators of the Shooting 'Related to the Elections' in Mamassani

A shooting in Mamassani County, Fars Province, which is witnessing the second round of parliamentary elections, has left four injured. The Ministry of Interior states that this incident was a 'non-security event,' and the perpetrators have been identified and are being pursued. According to the Deputy for Security and Law Enforcement of the Ministry of Interior, 'initial investigations indicate that these disturbances are a non-security issue and are, in fact, a reaction from supporters of the candidates, during which some shot at random individuals.' Hossein Zolfaqari added that in this incident 'four people were injured and transferred to the hospital, and security is currently established.' Mr. Zolfaqari further stated that 'the shooters have been identified and local forces are seeking to arrest them.' Meanwhile, the Election Headquarters, in its announcement number 118, has excluded the 'Mamassani and Rostam electoral district' in Fars Province from the extension of voting time, thus concluding elections in this district at 6 PM on Friday. The latest announcement from the Ministry of Interior indicates an extension of voting time in other districts until 9 PM on Friday. Simultaneously, ISNA news agency quoted Nouzar Shafiei, the current representative of Mamassani in the parliament, stating that the shooting in this electoral district 'was carried out by some political opportunists, and the people are not responsible for this violence.' Mr. Shafiei added that 'since the community [of Mamassani citizens] is an ethnic community, unfortunately, sometimes ethnic traits are provoked by a few individuals, leading the masses into conflict.' The Deputy for Security and Law Enforcement of the Ministry of Interior also reminded that out of the 21 provinces witnessing the second round of elections, the situation in three provinces, 'Khuzestan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, and Fars,' was assessed as 'secure' based on prior predictions, but 'so far, security has been established in all districts, and there have been no security incidents.' Hossein Zolfaqari also referred to an incident in Miyandoab, stating that 'as far as we know, it was not related to the elections.' He also mentioned another case of tension in Parsabad, saying that '[in this area] we did not have tension to the extent of a security problem. There may have been a dispute, but it is not a security issue.' The Deputy for Security and Law Enforcement of the Ministry of Interior also noted that 'we have not had any specific movements of terrorist forces' and added that 'before the elections, there was a conflict in the Khash region where two Peugeot vehicles attacked a special patrol, resulting in three police officers being martyred and one injured. This team, which was not a group, was identified, and three of them were killed in the conflict, and their equipment was confiscated; these individuals were related to drug trafficking criminals.' In this context, the destruction of 'five terrorist groups' linked to 'electoral sabotage' and the arrest of 'individuals' in eastern Iran on charges of 'attempting to disrupt the elections' were reported. The Minister of Interior announced a 'red security status' in 10 electoral districts.
