Iman Hassanvand, a citizen from Khorramabad, died 'under torture' by Tehran's intelligence officers

Human rights media have reported the death of Iman Hassanvand, a citizen from Khorramabad, 'under torture' by Tehran's intelligence officers. According to the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, security agencies informed the family of this 30-year-old citizen about his death on Saturday, January 13, and warned them against publicizing the matter. The report states that Iman Hassanvand had been detained by Tehran's intelligence department for about four months. Hengaw had previously reported that Iman Hassanvand was severely injured and arrested after the intelligence officers raided his residence in Tehran on September 21 of this year. According to this human rights organization, Majid Rezaei, a friend of Iman Hassanvand, was also shot in the head by officers during this raid and was killed. In recent days, reports have also emerged regarding the death of Peyman Abdi, a 35-year-old citizen from Nowsud in the Paveh County, while in custody of the intelligence department in Kermanshah. Additionally, Hengaw reported that at least 11 prisoners, including 8 Kurdish citizens, died under torture in Iranian prisons last year. Human rights organizations have repeatedly warned about human rights violations in Iran and called for international responses regarding this issue. The annual report of Human Rights Watch states that the Iranian government continues its 'oppressive crackdown.' Barzin Hamzazadeh, a child arrested during nationwide protests, died due to injuries sustained from torture. The latest status of Fatemeh and Mohammad Hossein Sepehri; the intelligence department in Mashhad is obstructing the situation of these two political prisoners. Activists and human rights organizations have warned about the execution of Reza Rasayi and Mojahid Korkor.
