According to this official, the death of Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, has prompted Iranian officials to thoroughly investigate potential infiltrations within their ranks, from the IRGC to senior security officials. Another official stated that the leaders of the Islamic Republic have particularly become suspicious of those who travel abroad or have relatives living outside Iran. It is reported that the death of Hassan Nasrallah has created deep distrust between Tehran and Hezbollah. Meanwhile, Hezbollah Lebanon announced that it is hesitant in selecting its new leader and is concerned that Israel's ongoing influence within the organization could endanger Nasrallah's successor as well. Hassan Nasrallah was killed on Friday, October 6, following the bombing of Hezbollah's headquarters in Beirut. He was the third Secretary-General of Hezbollah after Subhi al-Tufayli and Abbas Musawi. Some media outlets claimed after Nasrallah's death that an Iranian had provided the location of the Hezbollah leader to Israel.
