Increased Pressure on Families of Protesters; Wife and Friends of Mohammad Habibi Arrested

Some news sources told Voice of America: "On Friday evening, agents raided the home of Mohammad Habibi, arresting his wife Khadijeh Pakzamin and several teachers and activists who had come to visit his family." On the other hand, the Iranian Retirees Council announced: "During the arrest of 12 activists of the teachers' movement while visiting the family of Mohammad Habibi on Friday, April 28, 2023, Sara Siyahpour, Aldouz Hashemi, Kabiri, and Parvin Esfandiari were transferred to the hospital after being beaten. It is reported that the remaining detainees are in Evin Prison." This council condemned the raid on the activists of the teachers' movement and called for the immediate and unconditional release of all detainees and other imprisoned activists. The latest news indicates that Khadijeh Pakzamin and Neda Najafi were released a short while ago. It is reported that one of the detainees was transferred to the hospital due to poor health. Mohammad Habibi, the spokesperson for the Iranian Teachers' Trade Association and one of the most prominent activists of the teachers' union, was arrested by government agents at his teaching location in Shahriar on Wednesday morning, April 5, 2023, and transferred to Evin Prison. The Gilan Teachers' Trade Association condemned the imprisonment of three of its members. The Swedish Trade Union Platform emphasized that all labor and political activists imprisoned by the Islamic Republic must be released immediately. Teachers protested their issues in front of education departments in several cities in Iran. The spokesperson for the Iranian Teachers' Trade Association was arrested in the classroom. Mohammad Habibi, the spokesperson for the teachers' association, was arrested again.
