Injury of Three Workers Due to Explosion at Stone Quarry in Khuzestan Province

The government news agency ILNA reported the injury of three workers following an explosion at a stone quarry on the Haftkel-Baghmalek road in Khuzestan Province. According to this government media, the incident occurred due to a lack of safety at the workplace and the rupture of the feeding pipe of the hammer and its feeding capsule as a result of the explosion. This news agency emphasized that the injured workers are aged 24, 26, and 35. The absence of security and safety at the workplace for workers, especially in mines, is one of the issues that has claimed the lives of dozens of people each year and has caused many to suffer irreparable injuries. In the latest case, dozens of workers lost their lives due to a coal mine accident in Tabas in the early days of Mehr month. Following this incident, the 'Confederation of Iranian Workers - Abroad' sent a letter to global labor unions on Tuesday, October 3, calling for the formation of an 'International Investigation Committee' to address the real dimensions of 'this crisis' as quickly as possible. The Farhikhtegan newspaper also reported on October 2 that 'in the year 1400, accidents occurred in 270 mines across the country.' According to this newspaper, 'an examination of the number of accidents in mines shows that iron ore, coal, and sand mines had the highest number of incidents, with 390, 368, and 187 accidents, respectively.' The report from this newspaper, affiliated with Azad University, stated that 'on average, one workplace accident occurs daily in coal mines.' Five French labor unions stated that the Iranian government was responsible for the Tabas mine disaster, noting that the lack of safety at the workplace claims the lives of six workers daily. The investigator of the Tabas mine explosion confirmed the failure to adhere to safety principles in the workplace.
