International Confederation of Trade Unions: The Death Sentence Against Sharifeh Mohammadi Must Be Revoked

The International Confederation of Trade Unions, with 176 million members from 161 countries, condemned the death sentence against Sharifeh Mohammadi, a labor activist imprisoned in Lakan Prison in Rasht, and called for her immediate and unconditional release. The confederation also demanded an immediate end to the repression of trade unionists and labor activists in Iran, emphasizing the need for the immediate and unconditional release of Sharifeh Mohammadi, all labor activists, teachers, and political and civil prisoners, including Cecile Kohler and Jacques Paris, French labor activists. The campaign stated that after completing detailed expert work, a comprehensive report of multiple human rights violations committed by the Iranian government (security and judicial institutions) against Sharifeh Mohammadi, an independent labor and civil activist, was sent and registered with the UN Special Rapporteur's office, and a complaint is also underway. Earlier, the human rights defense campaign announced that a similar complaint had been filed with the UN fact-finding committee, which is ongoing. Sharifeh Mohammadi, who was a member of the 'Coordination Committee to Help Form Workers' Organizations' over a decade ago, was arrested last December, and the Revolutionary Court of Rasht sentenced her to death on July 4 on charges of 'baghi.'
