Investigation into Possible Connection Between Explosions and Stabbing Attack in the U.S.

According to U.S. media reports, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into whether there is a connection between the explosions in New York and New Jersey and the stabbing attack on people at a mall in Minnesota. Officials say they are exploring possibilities regarding the 'terroristic' nature of these three incidents. Over the weekend, an explosion in New York left 29 injured. The lives of the injured are not in danger, but the occurrence of the explosion, especially in a busy neighborhood of the city, has heightened concerns. Shortly after, it was reported that another explosive device was found near the site of the first explosion. Hours before the New York explosion, in neighboring New Jersey, a 'homemade bomb' exploded near a charity event for the United States Marine Corps. This incident did not result in any casualties or injuries. Two thousand kilometers away from the northeastern states, last Saturday, an attacker with a knife assaulted people at a mall in Minnesota, injuring 9. The attacker was shot dead by a police officer who was present but off duty. Reports indicate that a group known as the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack in Minnesota. Reuters reports that the attacker asked at least one of the victims whether they were Muslim. The Washington Post states that a news agency affiliated with ISIS referred to the attacker as a 'soldier,' but it is still unclear what connection this individual has with the group and whether there is any specific link between them. CNN reports that U.S. 'Homeland Security' officials are investigating a possible connection between the explosions in New York and New Jersey, especially since similarities have been found in the explosive materials used in both cases. The Washington Post notes that officials have not yet been able to definitively establish a relationship between these three incidents; however, each one could potentially be 'terroristic,' prompting federal and local officials to work quickly to clarify the reasons behind them and exactly what happened. The Governor of New York has emphasized that the explosion in that city was definitely a 'terroristic' act, but at this stage, no evidence of international terrorism has been found, and 'in other words, we have not established a connection between this explosion and ISIS.' The police have not yet reported the arrest of any suspects related to the explosions in New York and New Jersey. The identity of the attacker in Minnesota has also not been disclosed due to ongoing investigations.
