Investigation into the U.S. President Begins; Impeachment of Biden Possible Due to 'Abuse of Power'

Kevin McCarthy, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, announced on Tuesday that he has asked lawmakers to begin investigations into Joe Biden's potential involvement in foreign business dealings of his son Hunter, with the aim of impeaching the U.S. President. The Republican Speaker stated, "Allegations of abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption have been raised that require further investigation by the House of Representatives, and we will proceed based on evidence." Mr. McCarthy added that there are "serious and credible allegations" regarding the President's actions, stating, "We have found that President Biden lied to the American people about his knowledge of his family's foreign business dealings. Eyewitnesses have testified that the President was present on several business phone calls and had significant involvement in this matter. By putting these allegations together, a larger picture of the process and environment leading to corruption emerges." McCarthy also claimed that Joe Biden used the presidential office to coordinate these calls and exploited his government resources. This impeachment initiative comes amid ongoing federal investigations against Hunter Biden, Joe Biden's only living son, who is accused of tax evasion and financial corruption in foreign business dealings. Ian Sams, a White House spokesperson, responded to the Speaker's request on his account on "X," stating, "Republicans have been investigating for 9 months looking for evidence against the President and have yet to present any documents. This has been acknowledged by Republican representatives themselves." Republicans have held the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives for the past 9 months. Initiating an investigation aimed at impeachment in the House of Representatives is the first step toward removing the U.S. President. Republicans need a simple majority vote in the House to pass this proposal, and if such a vote is obtained, the impeachment proposal will be officially submitted to the Senate. If the impeachment moves forward in the Senate, it requires the approval of at least two-thirds of the senators (100 senators) to remove Joe Biden. The current composition of the Senate is 51 to 49 in favor of the Democrats. Hunter Biden is facing federal investigations regarding his "tax affairs." The House of Representatives opposes any agreement with the Islamic Republic without congressional oversight. Biden signed the U.S. government debt ceiling bill.
