Iran has 'met the deadline' for providing information about its past nuclear program

One day after the Iranian parliament's approval of the 'Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action' (JCPOA) by the Guardian Council, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that Tehran has provided all necessary information for evaluating the past of its nuclear program. According to the IAEA statement received by Radio Farda on Thursday, October 15, the information provided by Iran was based on a 'roadmap'. The roadmap, signed on July 14 this year between the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization and the IAEA, aims to resolve ambiguities related to Iran's past nuclear program. Yukiya Amano, the IAEA Director General, visited the Parchin facility on September 20, and Iranian experts also took samples from this facility. The IAEA's announcement on Thursday indicates that the agreement between Iran and the six world powers is one step closer to implementation. Under this agreement, Iran has accepted significant restrictions on its nuclear activities, and in return, international sanctions will be lifted or suspended after the full implementation of the JCPOA. The Director General of the IAEA must submit his final report on Iran's past and present nuclear activities by December 15 of this year. Thursday, October 15, was the last deadline for Iran to provide the necessary information and documents for this evaluation. Iranian officials, including Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization, and Abbas Araqchi, Deputy Foreign Minister, have stated that the implementation of the JCPOA will begin next week, with 'Agreement Day' likely to be on Monday, July 27. According to Salehi, after 'Agreement Day', the European Union and the President of the United States will officially announce that sanctions will be lifted or suspended, but the timing of this will depend on when Iran carries out its 'on-the-ground' actions. He added: 'Our on-the-ground actions will take a maximum of about one and a half to two months, and we can say that by late December or early January, we will witness the full implementation of the JCPOA.' In this context, the United States has called for Iran's full cooperation with the IAEA to implement the 'roadmap'. The IAEA report suggests that Iran has likely constructed a new section in Parchin. Amano stated that significant progress has been made regarding the past of Iran's nuclear program. After the JCPOA, where is Iran headed? Salehi stated that the Vienna agreement will be fully implemented by early January, and the lifting of sanctions on Iran will be announced on Monday.
