Disastrous Conditions of Uprising Prisoners in Qezel Hesar Prison In their ongoing efforts to pressure female political prisoners in Evin, the henchmen of the mullahs’ regime have cut off the telephone access of several of them, including Shiva Esmaeili, Marzieh Farsi, Forough Taghipour, Zahra Safaei, Elaheh Fouladi, Golrokh Iraee, and Sakineh Parvaneh.
Shiva Esmaeili, 60, was arrested in Tehran in March 2023 and sentenced to 10 years and six months in prison.
Marzieh Farsi, 59, was arrested in Tehran in August 2023 and sentenced to six years in prison.
Forough Taghipour, 32, was arrested in Tehran for the second time in August 2023 and sentenced to six years in prison.
Golrokh Iraee was arrested in October 2022 and sentenced to six years in prison. She had previously been arrested in November 2016, serving six years in prison, and was re-arrested shortly after her release.
Sakineh Parvaneh was arrested in April 2023 and sentenced to six years in prison. She had previously been arrested in February 2020 and was imprisoned for three years.
Zahra Safaei, 63, was arrested in September 2023 and sentenced to five years in prison. Now imprisoned for the third time, she spent eight years in prison during the 1980s for supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
Elaheh Fouladi was arrested in November/December 2023 and sentenced to five years in prison.
Meanwhile, prisoners of the January 2026 uprising in Wards 35 and 37 of Unit 3 in Qezel Hesar Prison are deprived of basic rights and minimal facilities. Many of them, who suffer from severe injuries, including broken hands, feet, facial bones, and teeth, are crammed into these wards without the most basic living and sanitary amenities. Ward 37, housing about 200 prisoners amidst extreme heat, lacks any cooling system, and the running water is cut off for most of the day. The henchmen pressure the prisoners, demanding they pay for water delivered by tankers out of their own pockets.
In another development, the henchmen of the mullahs’ regime have arrested Milad Sajjadian, 32, a former political prisoner, in Shiraz. In protest, Milad went on a hunger strike. After seven days, he was hospitalized and subsequently transferred to Adelabad Prison in Shiraz. The henchmen recently moved him from Adelabad Prison to an unknown location, and there is no information regarding his fate and whereabouts. He was previously arrested in December January 2022 and September 2023, spending three years in prison on charges of supporting the PMOI.
The Iranian Resistance once again strongly condemns the intensified pressure on political prisoners, especially female prisoners in Evin and the uprising detainees in Qezel Hesar, and calls for an international fact-finding mission to visit Iran’s prisons and meet with the prisoners, particularly political and female detainees.
