This was announced on March 21 by the Ministry of Oil of the Islamic Republic in response to a statement by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about a short-term license to sell Iranian oil.
"Currently, Iran has practically no oil (in tankers) at sea and there is no surplus for supplies to international markets," the Mehr news agency quoted the statement as saying. A representative of the Iranian ministry noted that Bessent's statements are untrue and were made to "instill hope in buyers and control the psychology of the market."
A correspondent on March 20 reported that the US Treasury Department had issued a short-term and "highly specialized" license that allows the sale of Iranian oil currently at sea. The solution will increase the volume of supplies and ease the pressure of the crisis in the field of energy transportation due to the conflict in the Middle East. A day earlier, the official also announced the possibility of such indulgences, Izvestia reminds.
