Iranian Arab Political Activist Shot Dead in The Hague, Netherlands

Reports from the Netherlands indicate that an Iranian political activist, referred to as one of the leaders of a separatist Arab group from Khuzestan, was shot dead on Wednesday in The Hague. According to Dutch state television, Ahmad Mola Abunahad, known as Ahmad Nissi, was killed on Wednesday, November 8, in front of his residence in The Hague. The Dutch television referred to Ahmad Mola as the founder of the 'Al-Ahwaz Liberation Movement.' The 'Al-Ahwaz Liberation Movement,' which Iran considers a terrorist group, began its activities in mid-1997 and declared its goal to be the 'liberation of Khuzestan, Bushehr, Hormozgan, and the islands of the Persian Gulf.' The identity of the attackers on Ahmad Mola is still unknown. Some reports in Dutch media mention the arrest of a suspect who was 'fleeing the scene and was pointed out to the police by Ahmad Mola's son.' According to these reports, Ahmad Mola, 54, left Iran with his family in 2005 to live in the Netherlands and had been living in The Hague for the past ten years. The 'Al-Ahwaz Liberation Movement,' of which Mr. Mola is identified as the founder, believes in armed action against the Islamic Republic. In April 2015, during an armed attack on the police station in 'Gombou' in the Hamidiyeh district, 25 kilometers west of Ahvaz, three police officers were killed and two were injured. After this attack, a group named the 'Arab Liberation Movement of Ahwaz' claimed responsibility and asserted that it targeted a 'base belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.' In this context, a commander of the IRGC announced the arrest of the perpetrators of the attack on the police station in Ahvaz. Two police officers were killed in an 'attack by unknown individuals' in Ahvaz. An Arab separatist group claimed responsibility for the explosion of two oil pipelines in Khuzestan; Iran denied this. Three defendants in the attack on the Hamidiyeh police station in Khuzestan were executed. The Ministry of Intelligence published details about a 'terrorist group' in Khuzestan. Amnesty International reported that 50 people have been arrested in Khuzestan. The situation is changing for 'proxy forces'; there is a war against the people in the streets of Iran.
