Iranian Army Cargo Plane Crash Leaves 15 Dead and One Injured

A cargo plane crash in Safadasht, Karaj resulted in 15 fatalities and one injury. A Boeing 707 aircraft crashed at Fath Airport in Safadasht on Monday morning at 8:30 AM. Safadasht is located in the Malard County of Tehran Province, near Alborz Province. The plane reportedly had between eight to 16 occupants, and it is said that one of the pilots survived. The provincial forensic medicine director stated that the bodies of 15 victims, including 14 men and one woman, have been delivered to the forensic office in Alborz Province. One injured person has also been transferred to the hospital. Meanwhile, the army's public relations confirmed that the crashed plane belonged to the military. This cargo plane was carrying meat from Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, and according to Iranian media, it mistakenly landed at Fath Airport instead of Payam Airport in Karaj. Reports indicate that the plane collided with the airport wall and parts of a nearby residential area, but according to Mortaza Salimi, head of the Rescue and Relief Organization, there is currently no data on potential casualties in the area. The head of the Iranian Red Crescent's Rescue and Relief Organization stated that eight assessment teams, two teams with search and rescue dogs, and one helicopter have been dispatched to the crash site. According to a report by the Iranian state news agency, this Boeing 707 cargo plane was en route from Bishkek to Payam Airport. The Iranian army stated in a press release that the 707 cargo plane, carrying meat for humanitarian assistance from Bishkek, attempted an emergency landing at Fath Airport in Alborz but crashed. The army indicated that details of the incident are under investigation. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi referenced the incident in a speech in Gonbad Kavous on Monday morning, stating, 'Shipping, banking, and oil have been sanctioned by the U.S., but we stand against the sanctions. Establishing banking relations with other countries is not easy, but we can do it. Transporting goods is not simple; we are importing live animals and meat, and today a plane carrying meat crashed.' Fars news agency reported that the pilot 'mistakenly' landed at Fath Airport instead of Payam Airport. The Alif website stated that the plane went off the runway, hit the airport wall, and then collided with a 'residential complex.' Fars reported that 'there is still no information on the fate of the residents of the residential building.' The Red Crescent of Alborz Province stated that rescue teams are present at the crash site and have begun search operations in the residential area. Mehdi Mehroor, the head of crisis management in Alborz Province, also reported the discovery of the plane's black box.
