Iranian Democratic Front: Mohammad Masoud Salamaty Released from Prison After Three Weeks

The Iranian Democratic Front, a reformist group, reports that one of its prominent members has been released from prison after nearly three weeks of detention, while two other members remain incarcerated. The Iranian Democratic Front, founded through the unity of student groups in Iran, states that Mohammad Masoud Salamaty, the secretary of its organizational unit and a member of its central council, has been temporarily released from prison. He is one of four members of the central committee of the Iranian Democratic Front who were arrested on July 9 in Tehran, coinciding with the third anniversary of the police attack on the dormitory of Tehran University students. One of the four, Javad Emami, has already been released, but there is no information on the whereabouts of the other two, Parviz Safari and Heshmatollah Tabarzadi, the leader of the Iranian Democratic Front. Iranian authorities have arrested Mr. Tabarzadi at least five times due to his political activities and criticisms of the conservative clerics in power in Iran. Earlier this year, Mr. Tabarzadi spent seventy days in solitary confinement.
