Iranians React to Netanyahu's Message: The Middle East is at a 'Moment of Destiny'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's direct message to the people of Iran has sparked widespread reactions among Iranians on social media, with some users viewing it as a significant warning to the Islamic Republic and the beginning of a new order in the Middle East through the development of the Abraham and Cyrus pacts. In a direct video message to the people of Iran on Monday, October 1, Netanyahu stated that 'Iran will eventually be free, and that moment will come much sooner than people think, and everything will be different.' These remarks led to extensive reactions from Iranian users on social media. Pouyan Khushhal, a civil activist and journalist, described Netanyahu's message to Iranians as 'his first action after targeting one of the Islamic Republic's arms in the region,' stating that this 'message of freedom for the people of Iran' has three goals: 'to demonstrate power to the Islamic Republic, to isolate the Islamic Republic in the region, and to call on the people of Iran to strengthen internal dissatisfaction.' Roozbeh Hosseini, a political activist, also noted that Netanyahu's words reminded him of previous statements by Fatemeh Soheiri, a political prisoner opposed to the Islamic Republic, who said: 'The Iranian nation, wake up. They took our bread. They took our homeland. They took our credibility. They took our security. They took the lives of our loved ones. What are we waiting for now?' Simin Sabat, a journalist, added that Mr. 'Netanyahu has previously sent messages to the people of Iran,' questioning whether the timing of this message, shortly after the death of Hassan Nasrallah, is more of a warning to the Islamic Republic than a message to the Iranian people. Hossein Aghaei, a Middle East analyst, described the Israeli Prime Minister's message to the people of Iran as 'clear and meaningful,' stating, 'Today, the Middle East is at a moment of destiny.' Hamed Fard, a protest rap singer, also referred to part of the Israeli Prime Minister's statements, which said, 'Our two ancient nations, the Jewish people and the people of Iran, will eventually be at peace. Our two countries, Israel and Iran, will be at peace.' Nariman Gharib, a cybersecurity researcher, wrote that the Israeli Prime Minister 'recorded a sudden video message for the people of Iran in the midst of neutralizing Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria and the Houthis,' noting that he 'understands the importance of communicating with the people of Iran and has a complete understanding of the clergy and the Iranian people, knowing that we are not like the clergy.' Pantea Rasouli, a political activist, pointed to the 'Cyrus Pact,' stating that 'with the crime of October 7, the whistle has been blown on the end of the criminal Islamic Republic,' and 'this is the end of the terrorists, and there is no turning back.' Bobby Afrouz, a political activist, referred to the 'advocacy' campaign for Prince Reza Pahlavi, highlighting the Israeli Prime Minister's message in relation to 'destroying the terrorists of Hamas and Hezbollah,' recalling the statements made by Prince Reza Pahlavi to Israel a few days ago. On the other hand, some users criticized the opposition for why Iranians welcome Israel's actions and the Prime Minister's message. For instance, Foad Shams, a political activist, stated that 'no foreign politician cares about the freedom and comfort of the people of Iran.' Additionally, Sadegh Zibakalam, a university professor and political science expert, claimed that 'Iranians who are upset with the Islamic Republic are, regardless of the realities, sending large bouquets to Israel.' Zibakalam added, 'Many of them do not know that 57 years ago, in the so-called Six-Day War, the Israelis achieved a much more significant victory. But have military victories led to peace and stability for Israel?' In response, Reza Behrouz, a doctor and civil activist, stated, 'Of course, it's more than just being upset. We want the destruction of the Islamic Republic and the ideology of the 57 calamity in general.' Some users have also expressed gratitude for Israel's actions and the Prime Minister's message. In this context, one user wrote, 'We will never forget your people who supported us while the whole world remained silent as the criminal clergy regime slaughtered our children.'
