Iran's National Freestyle Wrestling Olympic Qualifiers Concluded

The Olympic qualifiers for Iran's national freestyle wrestling team have concluded, determining the Olympic wrestlers in four additional weight categories. According to the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), today the national freestyle wrestling qualifiers were held to identify team members in the 55, 60, 74, and 84 kg weight classes for the 2004 Athens Olympics, and the top competitors were selected. In these competitions, Gholamreza Mohammadi in the 55 kg, Masoud Mostafa-Jokar in the 60 kg, Mehdi Hajizadeh in the 74 kg, and Majid Khodaei in the 84 kg secured their Olympic spots by defeating their opponents. Notably, in the final match of the 74 kg category, Mehdi Hajizadeh defeated his main rival, Hadi Habibi, with a score of 7 to 0, earning a place in the Athens Olympics. Previously, the technical committee of the Wrestling Federation had selected Alireza Heydari and Alireza Rezaei as members of the national freestyle wrestling team in the 96 and 120 kg categories for the Athens Olympics. It is worth mentioning that one of either Alireza Dabir or Asghar Bazri will also be selected as a national team member in the 66 kg category.
