Iran's National Freestyle Wrestling Team to Compete in World Championships in New York

The National Freestyle Wrestling Team of Iran will participate in the World Wrestling Championships in New York. The Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Iran stated that the Sports Organization, the National Olympic Committee, and the Wrestling Federation will send the team to the United States in line with the policies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to IRNA news agency, Bahram Afsharzadeh made this statement on Sunday after meeting with Hamid Reza Asefi, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mohammad Reza Talaghani, the head of the Wrestling Federation, was also present at this meeting. Afsharzadeh positively assessed the meeting, stating that all activities related to sending the National Freestyle Wrestling Team to the World Championships in the U.S. will be coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The World Freestyle Wrestling Championships will be held in September of this year in New York, and the Iranian team will participate. The Secretary General of the Olympic Committee mentioned that discussions were held regarding the entry and exit of the Iranian National Freestyle Wrestling Team to the U.S., how spectators will be allowed in the venue to cheer for the Iranian wrestlers, and coordination with the International Wrestling Federation. He expressed satisfaction with the preparation of the Iranian National Freestyle Wrestling Team for the upcoming competitions, adding that the National Olympic Committee will ensure all conditions for a strong presence of the Iranian wrestling team at the World Championships.
