Iran's Representative at the UN Warns of Consequences of Israeli Attack on Lebanon

The representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the United Nations in New York warned on Friday, July 8, about the repercussions of an Israeli attack on Lebanon. The Iranian representation stated on its social media account that if Israel engages in a 'full-scale' war against Lebanon, such an action would lead to 'a completely devastating war.' The message emphasized that if such an attack occurs, 'all options, including the full participation of all resistance fronts, are on the table.' This warning comes as European officials have recently urged the Islamic Republic to help reduce tensions between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. In this context, the German Foreign Minister, in a phone call with Ali Bagheri Kani, the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, called on Tehran to take action to reduce tensions in the Middle East. Annalena Baerbock emphasized during this call that 'escalation of tensions in the Middle East must be prevented at all costs, and Iran must be part of this effort.' Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the 'Iran axis' is at war with Israel on seven fronts. Josep Borrell, the EU's foreign policy chief, also mentioned in a message on social media that he discussed 'dangerous escalating tensions along the blue line' with the head of Iran's Foreign Ministry. Borrell referred to the temporary border line drawn by the UN in 2000 between Lebanon and Israel and the Golan Heights during the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon. About three weeks ago, Hezbollah targeted Israeli cities and military positions with its largest rocket and drone attacks to date, following an Israeli airstrike that killed one of the group's senior commanders. Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, warned last week that if a full-scale war occurs between the two sides, 'there will be no safe place in Israel.' Since the attack by the extremist group Hamas on Israel on October 7 of last year and the onset of the current Gaza war, Iranian-affiliated militant groups in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Iran itself have targeted Israel with rocket and missile attacks. Benjamin Netanyahu accused the Islamic Republic of Iran on July 7 of seeking 'dominance over the Middle East' and stated that to counter Tehran's efforts, the extremist group Hamas must first be 'destroyed.' The Israeli Prime Minister stated: Iran is at war with us on seven fronts: Hamas, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis, militants in Iraq and Syria, the West Bank, and Iran itself.
