Iraqi: Currently, there is no possibility for direct negotiations with the United States

Abbas Araghchi claimed on Tuesday, March 7, regarding the "nuclear negotiations" that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not negotiate under "pressure, threats, and sanctions." The Iranian Foreign Minister, speaking at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Tehran, added: "Therefore, there will be no possibility for direct negotiations between us and the United States on the nuclear issue, as long as maximum pressure is applied in this way." He further stated that the Iranian government will act on the nuclear issue in "cooperation and coordination with its friends in Russia and China" and will coordinate its positions. The Russian Foreign Minister also referred to his discussions with Abbas Araghchi about the JCPOA, saying: "We talked in detail about the situation surrounding the JCPOA and believe that there is still a capacity for diplomacy that should be used effectively without threats and resorting to force." He added: "Russia is hopeful about this issue and will help find solutions." Meanwhile, the nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran continue amid concerns expressed by the United States and several countries worldwide, including in Europe and the Middle East, regarding its dimensions. In this context, Donald Trump resumed the "maximum pressure" campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran by signing an executive order on February 5. According to this directive, with the return of maximum pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran, its pathways to acquiring nuclear weapons will be blocked, and its destructive influence outside the country will be countered. Another section of this directive states that Donald Trump will not tolerate the Islamic Republic's possession of nuclear weapons capabilities and their sustained support for terrorism, especially against U.S. interests. Subsequently, Mr. Trump announced about two weeks ago in an interview with Fox News that he "would prefer" that instead of a severe military attack by Israel on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities, the Iranian government reach an agreement with the United States that would allow Washington to "monitor," "review," and "inspect" its nuclear activities and then "eliminate" them. When asked if he meant "a better agreement than Obama's nuclear deal," he responded: "That (the JCPOA) was the stupidest agreement. Anyway, it had expired by now. That agreement was a pathway to nuclear weapons. It was a short-term agreement. You cannot sign an agreement that is only valid for a few years. That agreement had expired by now. Think about it, and they [now] had the legal right to have nuclear weapons." Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic of Iran claims that its nuclear program is peaceful despite reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency. Earlier, Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, warned on February 15 about the sharp increase in the Iranian government's enriched uranium stockpile, emphasizing that the opportunity to revive the JCPOA is running out. In this context, Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, stated in an interview published on the U.S. State Department's website on February 21 that the Iranian regime can never possess nuclear weapons to hold the world hostage and have the capability to attack Israel. Mr. Rubio emphasized that the U.S. President's policy is clear and stated that under Donald Trump's presidency, Iran will not be a nuclear country. The U.S. Secretary of State said: "We do not discuss tactics or actions. He has issued an executive order to once again apply maximum pressure on the Iranian regime." He pointed out that the Iranian regime uses every dollar it receives to fund its weapons program and support terrorism, adding that if you look at all the destabilizing actions in the Middle East, you will notice the attacks by the Houthis on global shipping lines, and the attacks by Hamas, Hezbollah, and militias in Iraq against Israel and U.S. forces. Michael Waltz, the National Security Advisor to the U.S. President, emphasized on March 1 that the United States is pressing its foot on the throat of the Iranian economy under the maximum pressure policy. Additionally, Doug Burgum, the U.S. Secretary of the Interior, stated on March 2 that the resumption of the "maximum pressure" campaign by Donald Trump will bring the ruling Ayatollahs of Iran to their knees. According to Mr. Burgum, the Iranian government has earned hundreds of billions of dollars from energy sales with the help of shadowy ships and shell companies, but Donald Trump wants to stop it. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Macron emphasized on Monday, March 5, at a joint press conference with Donald Trump in Washington the necessity of preventing the Iranian government from acquiring nuclear weapons. He stated that the capabilities of the Islamic Republic and its destabilizing activities must be countered. Mr. Macron's reference was to the financial and military support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.
