Iraqi: Iran's Missile Capability Led to Acceptance of the JCPOA

Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister and a senior member of the nuclear negotiation team, stated that the seven binding UN Security Council resolutions in the nuclear negotiations were a result of the people's will. On Friday, Mr. Araghchi spoke at a cultural event for educators and students, saying that if a country is not capable, its diplomats will have nothing to say, and Iran's capabilities were translated for the opposing side during the nuclear negotiations. He referred to three capabilities in Iran, with the first being Iran's military capability and missile power. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on Tuesday that it had conducted the final phase of a missile exercise. According to reports from Iranian news agencies, ballistic missiles were fired in several stages from various locations in Iran. On Wednesday, Iranian news agencies reported that the IRGC fired two ballistic missiles named Qadr-H and Qadr-F from the heights of the eastern Alborz region. Fars News Agency reported that Hebrew was inscribed on the bodies of these missiles, stating that Israel must be erased from the pages of time. The United States announced on March 9 that it was closely monitoring reports of ballistic missile tests by Iran. Abbas Araghchi attributed Iran's resistance to sanctions and its nuclear capabilities as other factors leading to the JCPOA. According to the IRNA news agency, he stated that if major countries could eliminate Iran's nuclear facilities, they would not negotiate, and it was due to Iran's missiles and military capabilities that they were compelled to negotiate. Some Western countries believe that unprecedented international sanctions forced the Islamic Republic to compromise on its nuclear program.
