Iraqi: The European Union Will Announce a Resolution to Lift Sanctions on Sunday

Simultaneously with the notification of the law for the implementation of the JCPOA in Iran, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic stated, quoting the Deputy High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, that this union will announce a resolution to 'lift' its sanctions against Iran on Sunday, October 18. The law for the implementation of the JCPOA was communicated on Saturday, October 17, by Hassan Rouhani, the President of Iran, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Atomic Energy Organization. Meanwhile, the Mehr news agency reported that Abbas Araghchi announced this news quoting Helga Schmid, the Deputy High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Defense of the European Union. Mr. Araghchi added that the European Union will announce 'a resolution to lift financial and economic sanctions against Iran' on that day. This comes as Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, also stated on the same day that the sanctions would be 'officially lifted', but the 'operationalization' of the lifting of sanctions would take 'one or two months'. The Guardian Council also confirmed the Assembly's resolution on Wednesday, October 10, without any changes to pave the way for its notification. According to the nuclear agreement reached in Vienna between Iran and world powers, which has also been confirmed by the United Nations Security Council, extensive international sanctions against Iran will be gradually suspended or lifted if extensive restrictions are imposed on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.
