The commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force has said that IRGC and Iranian Army servicemen dealt what he described as crushing blows to terrorist separatist groups during the recent US-Israeli war of aggression against the country.
Brigadier General Mohammad Karami said on Thursday that Washington and Tel Aviv had armed terrorist groups in southeastern and northwestern Iran during what he described as their 40-day war of aggression against the country, instructing them to carry out acts of terrorism and sabotage, News.Az reports, citing Iran's English-language Press TV.
"The IRGC and Army forces, however, stood side by side and pounded the positions of these groups in a pre-emptive move," he said.
The senior Iranian military commander also highlighted the role of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in strengthening the country's defence capabilities, saying he had directly supervised defence and military affairs and closely monitored military developments around the world.
"He used to lay particular emphasis on scientific development and the employment of leading-edge technologies in the Armed Forces, and frequently stated that future wars would be the scene of confrontation between technologies. Accordingly, a multi-stage vision plan for the Armed Forces was drawn up and pursued under his direction," Karami said.

He added that Khamenei had always stressed the need to enhance the combat readiness of the Iranian Armed Forces and ensure they were prepared to respond promptly and effectively to any potential threat.
Karami said that, following the 12-day war of June 2025 and under Khamenei's guidance, the necessary mechanisms and strategies had been redefined to confront future threats and further strengthen the country's defence capabilities.
The commander of the IRGC Ground Force said the results of those plans had been clearly demonstrated during what he described as the recent US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran. He claimed that, despite the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior military commanders, the country's Armed Forces had been able to deliver a decisive and appropriate response to the United States and Israel within a short period.
"This breakthrough was the result of meticulous and thoughtful planning, and the Armed Forces' full implementation of strategies mapped out by the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution," Karami said.
