Is Samsung Taking Revenge for the Note 7 Failure?

Samsung, which suffered a heavy blow after the failure of the Note 7 and faced significant criticism, has unveiled the Galaxy Note 8, addressing past issues. With this launch, Samsung has introduced its new product ahead of Apple, with the main competitor being the new iPhone 8 series. The Note 8 is equipped with a Snapdragon 835 processor in the U.S. market and an Exynos 8895 in other markets. It features a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with minimal bezels and a design similar to the Galaxy S8 series. Samsung claims that the best mobile camera in the world is used in this phone. The Galaxy Note 8 comes with 6GB of RAM and will be available in three storage versions of 64, 128, and 256GB, with the option to expand via microSD card. In terms of RAM power, this phone performs better than most products on the market. The main camera of the Note 8, like the S8, is equipped with dual pixel autofocus and wide-angle lenses with an f/1.7 aperture, alongside a telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture and standard autofocus. The Note 8 can record videos in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second and Full HD at 60 frames per second. Based on this, it can be said that Samsung phones are weaker in video recording compared to Sony phones. The Note 8 is equipped with a new dual camera. This dual camera allows users to focus before and after taking a photo. Other features of this camera include the ability to optically zoom images up to two times, a feature previously offered in other companies' smartphones like Apple's iPhone 7 Plus. However, in addition to these features, the Galaxy Note 8 has a unique aspect in its camera section compared to other phones. The Note 8 is the first smartphone where both camera sensors are equipped with optical image stabilization. In contrast, in the iPhone 7 Plus, only one sensor (the wide sensor) has stabilization. One of the dual camera sensors of the Galaxy Note 8 has a wide-angle view, while the second sensor is telephoto. Both sensors can somewhat control vibrations and shakes caused by hand movements when recording video and photos through the stabilizer. What Apple had done in the iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung has now repeated with better precision and functionality in a system called Live Focus. Simply put, the Note 8 can blur the background of an image while maintaining foreground clarity using data from both sensors, resulting in an image similar to that taken with a camera despite the shallow depth of field. The Note 8 is equipped with an 8-megapixel selfie camera with an f/1.7 aperture and fast autofocus. Another feature that sets the Note 8 apart from other market phones is its pen, known as the S Pen. Samsung has introduced a new version of the S Pen, which resembles regular pens more than ever. The new pen features a softer tip and greater pressure sensitivity. This feature can provide artists with better drawing capabilities or give journalists and students better options for note-taking. In this phone, users can write messages by hand instead of typing. Users can write notes with the Live Message app and share those notes as animated images on social media after applying various effects. This pen also assists in translating texts; users can translate text by moving the S Pen over it. Additionally, there will also be the option to convert currencies in the same way. The Galaxy Note 8 supports fast wireless charging; however, due to the fire incidents with the Note 7 batteries, Samsung has been very conservative and has not considered a very strong battery capacity for this device. The new battery capacity is 3300 mAh, which is considered average. Samsung has stated that to prevent a recurrence of fires, it has implemented rigorous tests on battery production. Samsung has used a display with very thin bezels, similar to the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, in the Note 8 as well. Samsung has designed a 6.3-inch display for the Galaxy Note 8 with curved edges and a resolution of 2960×1440 pixels. The pixel density of this phone is 522 pixels per inch, and it uses an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. This phone runs on Android 7, but Samsung has stated that it will try to develop and provide the new Android 8 to its users as soon as possible based on its specific policies. The price of this phone will vary in different markets, but the base model price is between $930 and $950, which will exceed $1000 with increased memory. This phone will enter global markets starting September 15.
