Is the City Ready for Another Plasco Incident?

With the removal of the last firefighter's body from the rubble of Plasco, the number of firefighter casualties reached 16. So far, the deaths of 4 non-firefighter citizens have also been confirmed, and thus, the death toll from the fire and collapse of the Plasco building is likely to close with around twenty fatalities. The debris removal process of the Plasco ruins has also reached its final stages, with reports stating that over 90% of the rubble has been cleared. Accordingly, the historical case of a building that was once the tallest symbol of the capital, which was on its way to becoming 'modern', will be closed a week after its collapse. However, this case remains open with numerous questions and ambiguities in the eyes of many citizens and media. Why did Plasco collapse? Was there a possibility to control the fire more quickly? Were there sufficient resources available? To what extent was the response of urban and law enforcement officials appropriate to the scale of the incident? How should citizens' reactions in gatherings and roadblocks be interpreted? To what extent is the blame on citizens and to what extent on officials who should have controlled the situation? These and many similar questions require clear and precise answers for the city; answers that can collectively shape another important question: Is the city prepared to cope with the next crisis, with another Plasco?
