Isfahan Governor's Apology Following Shell Impact on Park

On Tuesday, June 16, the Isfahan Governor's Office issued an official statement confirming once again that a shell had struck a park in Sepahan City, apologizing to the residents of the area and proposing a halt to military training in the region. Iranian news sites, including Tabnak and Nasim Online, reported on Wednesday, June 17, that two shells had hit areas in Sepahan City and the center of Isfahan, although there were no casualties. The website 'Tabnak' cited 'some news sources' not named in the report, stating that one of the shells was fired from the Shahid Zeynaldin Base of the Isfahan Corps. However, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps denied reports linking this military institution to the shelling in Isfahan, asserting that none of its military units had conducted military exercises on Wednesday, June 17. Nevertheless, the public relations office of the Isfahan Governor's Office confirmed the shelling in a statement published on its official website for the second time. The statement also mentioned that investigations by experts indicated that 'an educational shell was mistakenly fired by one of the military units stationed in the area.' The governor's office also apologized to the local residents and promised to implement a plan for 'the complete cessation of field military training in the area to ensure security.' Within a few kilometers of Sepahan City, located south of Isfahan and at the beginning of the Isfahan-Shiraz road, military units from both the army and the IRGC are stationed. According to IRNA, the impact of the shell created a crater 30 centimeters deep and 80 centimeters in diameter in the ground, but there were no human casualties.
