ISIS Executes 100 Foreign Members Attempting to Flee Raqqa

The British newspaper Financial Times reported that the Islamic State (formerly ISIS) executed 100 foreign members who attempted to flee their posts in Raqqa, Syria. According to Agence France-Presse, the publication wrote on Saturday, December 20, quoting fighters from the Islamic State, that ISIS has formed a military police in Raqqa to pursue those foreign members who do not report to their posts. They stated that ISIS's military police have raided dozens of homes in Raqqa in search of these foreign fighters and have arrested many. The Financial Times also reported that one political activist opposed to ISIS and Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria confirmed the execution of 100 foreign fighters. The newspaper noted that 'some fighters have become aware of the realities of the Syrian war,' as in recent months five British citizens from the group and three French, two Germans, and two Belgians have requested to return home, but ISIS has arrested them. The report also cited the Centre for the Study of Radicalization at King's College London, stating that approximately 30 to 50 British citizens who are members of ISIS wish to return to their country but are concerned about ISIS's reaction. Since the United States and its allies have conducted extensive airstrikes against ISIS, the number of casualties among its members has significantly increased. In recent weeks, multiple reports have emerged about the retreat of ISIS forces in various regions of Iraq and Syria. In this context, ISIS has found itself in a 'defensive position' in some areas of Iraq. Muslim jihadists have killed 'more than five thousand people' in a month. The ISIS group has intensified its attacks to seize Samarra. Three senior ISIS commanders were 'killed' in U.S. airstrikes. Heavy clashes between Peshmerga forces and ISIS occurred in the city of Sinjar.
