ISIS Kills 25 People by 'Dissolving in Acid'

According to various local reports around the city of Mosul in northern Iraq, a group known as the Islamic State (ISIS) has 'dissolved' twenty-five individuals accused of 'spying for the Iraqi government' in nitric acid. Witnesses stated that these individuals were tied together with a rope and then thrown alive into a large container filled with nitric acid to destroy their body parts. Nitric acid is a colorless liquid with a very strong and 'suffocating' smell that rapidly 'eats away' human body parts. Nitric acid is used for making fertilizers as well as explosives. These 'acid executions' are being carried out following recent attacks and bombings by ISIS in Baghdad. At the same time, the publication of this news coincides with the preparations of government forces to retake Fallujah. Reports indicate that although Mosul is still under the control of ISIS, there is a comprehensive pressure from the Iraqi government, Kurdish Peshmerga, and American forces stationed in Iraq to reclaim it. A spokesperson for the U.S. Army recently stated that ISIS is losing the areas it occupied in Syria and Iraq. According to U.S. Army estimates, these areas include nearly half of the territory under ISIS control. Peter Cook, a Pentagon spokesperson, stated that ISIS has currently lost 45 percent of the areas it once occupied in Iraq, while in Syria, this figure ranges from 16 to 20 percent. ISIS, which gained control of a large part of the territories of Iraq and Syria in early 2014 due to the weakness of the Iraqi and Syrian army forces, is now facing attacks from an international coalition led by the U.S., as well as the Iraqi army and Kurdish Peshmerga forces, along with local militia forces.
