ISIS Releases Another Threatening Video About 'Attacking Iran'

The group known as the Islamic State has released a new video, once again threatening to carry out fresh attacks in Iran. According to Reuters, in this video, a masked man holding an AK-47 appears alongside two others, threatening Iran. The video was published by the news agency of the group known as the Islamic State and features images from the deadly attacks on June 7 in Tehran; attacks carried out by ISIS that resulted in the deaths of 18 citizens and five attackers, with over 50 injured. In the new video - as reported by Reuters - an individual speaking Persian with an accent threatens to behead individuals in Iraq and Syria, claiming he will do the same in central Tehran. In another part of the video, masked militants speak against Shiites and threaten to attack them in Iraq. This is not the first time the group known as the Islamic State has threatened to carry out more attacks in Iran. On the same day the Tehran attacks occurred, the group issued a statement referring to Iran, claiming that the self-proclaimed Islamic caliphate 'will not miss any opportunity to shed their blood' until Sharia law is implemented in Iran. The group had also released a threatening video in April. Ten days after the Tehran attacks, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) threatened countries it described as 'regional and trans-regional supporters of Takfiri terrorists,' announcing that it had attacked a center - according to this entity - 'commanding and supporting Takfiri terrorists' in Syria with missiles. The IRGC's missile attacks targeted Deir ez-Zor. However, these attacks have faced criticism. For instance, France, Germany, Britain, and the United States, Western countries involved in negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program, issued a statement on July 27, stating that Iran's development of ballistic missile programs, related tests, and missile launches into Syria pose a threat to regional stability. Iran, on the other hand, claims that its missile program has 'defensive objectives' and will continue. Since the occurrence of the Tehran attacks, dozens of people have been arrested in Iran; in the latest of these actions, the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence stated in a statement issued on Monday that it had arrested '27 members' of the Islamic State group who intended to carry out 'terrorist operations' in religious cities and provinces of Iran.
