Islamic Republic: The Security Council should have condemned Israel's attack on our 'diplomatic premises' in Damascus

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock called for 'maximum restraint' from all parties during a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. The German Foreign Ministry wrote in a post on 'X': 'Preventing further escalation of regional tensions is in everyone's interest. We urge all actors in the region to act with maximum responsible restraint.' Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized on Thursday that Israel will continue its war in Gaza while preparing for scenarios in other regions. He stated after visiting the 'Tel Nof' airbase in southern Israel, 'Anyone who harms us, we will harm them. We are ready to meet all of Israel's security needs, whether defensive or offensive.' The Iranian government has threatened to retaliate for the alleged Israeli attack on its consulate in Damascus on April 1, which resulted in the deaths of several senior commanders of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. In this regard, Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, stated on Wednesday, April 22, that Israel 'must be punished for this attack and will be punished.' According to Reuters, Netanyahu made his remarks as Israeli ground units and fighter jets launched operations in central Gaza aimed at destroying the infrastructure of Palestinian armed groups. The Israeli army also reported 'targeted operations' against Hamas in the Nuseirat area of central Gaza. According to the 'Times of Israel' website, the Israeli army's ground forces have not yet conducted operations in this area during the ongoing war. The report states that prior to the maneuver of armored brigade units of the 162nd division, the 'Nahal' infantry brigade, and other units in the area, the Israeli air force and 215th artillery regiment conducted attacks against dozens of Hamas-related targets, including tunnels of this group. The Israeli army announced that these attacks were carried out following the acquisition of information regarding 'the presence of terrorist infrastructures and many terrorists in the area.'
