Islamic State Confirms Death of 'Jihadi John'

The group known as 'Islamic State' has confirmed for the first time that 'Jihadi John', who beheaded various hostages in the group's early videos, has been killed. The U.S. military stated on November 13 that it is almost certain that Mohammed Emwazi (known as Jihadi John) was killed in a drone strike in Raqqa, the main base of 'ISIS' in Syria. American journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley, American aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig, British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning, Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, and several other hostages of 'Islamic State' were among those killed by this individual through beheading. The news of the death of the person known as 'Jihadi John' was published in the 'Dabiq' magazine belonging to 'Islamic State'. An image of his face without a mask was also published in this magazine. Mohammed Emwazi always appeared with a covered face in ISIS videos. Jihadi John was a British citizen. The 'Dabiq' magazine report stated that his origins trace back to the northeast of the Arabian Peninsula. However, contrary to reports of his death by drone strikes, the group known as Islamic State claims he was 'killed by gunfire from behind during one of the battles in Syria'. Mohammed Emwazi was born in Kuwait. Reports indicate that he moved to Britain as a child. According to the Washington Post, some of his friends have said that the path that ultimately led to his radicalization began with his trip to Tanzania in 2009. Upon entering this country, he was expelled after one night of detention. He was also arrested once in Britain in 2010. Reports indicate that Emwazi joined 'ISIS' in 2012 after traveling to Syria.
