Israel Arrests Syrian 'Informer' for the Islamic Republic in Syria

The Israeli army announced on Sunday that its commandos arrested a Syrian citizen accused of espionage for the Islamic Republic of Iran during a raid into Syrian territory in recent months. The identity of the Syrian citizen has been revealed as Ali Suleiman al-Aasi, a resident of the Saida area in the Daraa province. The Persian-language account of the Israeli army published a video of this individual's confessions, stating that he was engaged in 'gathering information about the Israeli army's forces in the border area for future terrorist activities' on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Israeli army stated that this Syrian citizen was 'closely monitored' before his arrest, and his capture prevented a future attack and exposed the operational methods of Iranian government elements in the Golan Heights front. In a video released from al-Aasi's confessions, this Syrian citizen says that an individual linked to the Islamic Republic told him that 'your area is strategically good, and we can exploit it.' According to reports, the individual subsequently asked Ali Suleiman al-Aasi to monitor only movements at the border and report them. The news of the arrest of this individual accused of spying for the Islamic Republic from within Syrian territory comes just a day after the announcement of the arrest of a 'Hezbollah commander' named Imad Fadel Amhaz in northern Lebanon by Israeli commandos. Following the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack, a network of Iranian proxy groups has been conducting continuous attacks against Israel. The Iranian government itself has directly attacked Israel twice, first at midnight on April 14, using at least 320 projectiles including suicide drones and cruise and ballistic missiles, and a second time on October 2, using at least 180 ballistic missiles, and according to reports, it is currently preparing for a third direct attack on Israel. Israeli officials have repeatedly warned that their country is engaged on seven different fronts against the Islamic Republic and its proxy groups, stating that Israel's military might reaches any source of threat at any place and time, and Israel will not leave any attack unanswered. Reports indicate that American and Israeli generals are discussing the 'threats' posed by the Iranian government, with reports suggesting that the Islamic Republic is 'in a position to attack' Israel. The U.S. has warned that it cannot deter Israel from responding to a potential Iranian attack. Khamenei and the IRGC have reiterated that the response to Israel is 'certain.' The deployment of American strategic bombers has also been noted as a new warning from Washington to Tehran.
