Israel Attacks Hezbollah Positions and Infrastructure

On Tuesday, October 23, the Israeli army targeted Hezbollah positions and infrastructure, which are proxy forces of the Islamic Republic, in Beirut. Israel announced that this central base was considered an important operational site for Hezbollah and was essentially a training center for conducting exercises and training Hezbollah's naval forces, as well as a storage location for military speedboats used in attacks on vessels and other Israeli targets in the country's maritime territory. The Israeli army stated that during other attacks in Beirut, weapon depots, command centers, and other Hezbollah infrastructure, some of which were underground, were targeted. Israeli officials also reported a missile attack by Hezbollah on central Israel that drove residents of the area to shelters, but there were no casualties or injuries reported. The Israeli army said that Hezbollah fired five projectiles from inside Lebanon towards Israel, adding that most of them were intercepted by Israel's missile defense system, while one landed in an open area. Concurrently, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken began his seven-day trip to the Middle East and arrived in Israel on Tuesday, October 23, to meet with Israeli leaders. Mr. Blinken is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and other Israeli officials. According to published reports, one of the main topics of discussion for the U.S. Secretary of State will be the potential Israeli attack on the Iranian government. Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic is also attempting to consult with Gulf Arab countries ahead of a possible Israeli attack. Earlier, Reuters reported that Tehran informed Gulf countries that allowing the use of their airspace against the Islamic Republic is 'unacceptable' and such an action would provoke a reaction from the Iranian government. Reports indicate that Gulf countries have tried to assure the Iranian government of their neutrality in any conflict between it and Israel. Hezbollah Lebanon has claimed responsibility for a drone attack on Benjamin Netanyahu's home. Seven detained Israeli citizens were reportedly planning to assassinate a senior Israeli nuclear scientist. Blinken, in the first phase of his trip to the Middle East, has arrived in Israel. The Israeli army stated that it has no plans to attack the hospital where Hezbollah's funds are kept in Beirut, while Israel claims that Hezbollah has hidden half a billion dollars in 'gold and money' under a hospital in Beirut.
