Israel Attacks Hezbollah Positions in Response to Rocket Fire from Southern Lebanon

The Israeli army stated that in response to rocket fire from Hezbollah towards northern Israel, it targeted a Hezbollah command center and other sites belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. According to the Times of Israel, the Israeli army's statement indicated that following the landing of a rocket fired from Lebanon in a playground, sirens sounded in northern Israel, and an interceptor missile was launched towards a suspicious target. The statement also mentioned that Israeli forces attacked 'a cell' that was preparing to attack Israel. It noted that no drones penetrated Israeli airspace. According to AFP, Hezbollah announced on Monday, November 20, that its forces had targeted northern Israel with drones, artillery, and rockets, including a group of Israeli soldiers. The Times of Israel did not report any casualties or injuries. Hezbollah, supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran, reportedly receives hundreds of millions of dollars annually from the Iranian government. Since the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, Hezbollah has lost dozens of its forces in clashes with Israel. Hamas, which is financially and militarily supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran, carried out a terrorist attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing at least 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking around 240 hostages, including children, women, and the elderly. In response to this action, Israel launched extensive air, sea, and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, calling for the destruction of Hamas. The United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan, Israel, and several other countries have listed Hamas as a terrorist organization. Islamic foreign ministers traveled to China to call for a ceasefire in Gaza, and images from surveillance cameras were released showing the transfer of Israeli hostages to Shifa Hospital by Hamas.
