Israel Claims to Have Killed One of Hezbollah's Air Defense Commanders

The Israeli army announced on Saturday that it had killed a key figure in Hezbollah's air defense in eastern Lebanon, who was responsible for numerous attacks against Israel. The Israeli military identified this militia member as Maytham Mustafa al-Attar, emphasizing that he had traveled to Iran multiple times and 'received training there and helped establish this Hezbollah unit and a stockpile of Iranian weapons.' Hezbollah confirmed the death of Maytham Mustafa al-Attar in a statement, stating that he was killed on Saturday in the 'Shaath' area located in Baalbek, eastern Lebanon. However, this statement did not mention Maytham Mustafa al-Attar's role within Hezbollah. Lebanese state television also reported that an Israeli drone strike on the vehicle carrying Maytham Mustafa al-Attar resulted in his death. Since the beginning of the extremist Hamas group's attack on Israel on October 7, Hezbollah has engaged in daily exchanges of fire with Israel along the border of the two countries. However, the escalation of hostilities in recent weeks and threats from both sides have raised concerns that these conflicts could lead to a full-scale war.
