Israel Confirms Attack on Hezbollah Positions in Lebanon

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Thursday, March 1, that Israel conducted missile strikes on Hezbollah positions and Iranian militants in the outskirts of Damascus on Wednesday night. In this regard, Israel has so far confirmed the attack on Lebanon. Earlier, state media in Syria and Lebanon reported Israeli airstrikes on these two countries. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in London, four large explosions were heard in the 'Sayyida Zainab' and 'Basatin Baileh' areas following the missile attacks. The Observatory noted that ambulances quickly moved towards these two areas after the explosions. The Syrian state news agency, 'SANA', announced that Israeli fighter jets bombed several bases around Damascus, the capital of the country, but there were no casualties, only material damage. However, a few hours later, 'Al-Arabiya' television, citing sources from the Syrian Observatory, reported that in the Israeli attack on Wednesday night on the 'Haytham Suleiman' camp near the 'Basatin Babila' settlement and the Sayyida Zainab area in the suburbs of Damascus, 2 members of Iran's proxy groups were killed and 6 others were injured. Al-Arabiya added that Israeli missiles targeted locations in the suburbs of Damascus where Hezbollah forces and pro-Iran groups are stationed. Meanwhile, the Lebanese state news agency reported that following the Israeli airstrikes on Wednesday night in the towns of Kafra and Sidiqin in southern Lebanon near the border with Israel, at least 2 people were killed and 14 others were injured. The Israeli army confirmed the attack on southern Lebanon on its Telegram channel without referencing reports from Syria, stating that 'Israeli fighter jets bombed Hezbollah's terrorist infrastructure in the Kafra and Sidiqin areas in southern Lebanon, and the Hawla area was also targeted by artillery fire.' The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced last week that since October 8, the day after Hamas militants attacked Israel, about 200 people have been killed due to Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon, and approximately 950 others have been injured.
