Israel Intensifies Attacks in Northern and Southern Gaza

Israeli forces continued their advances in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday, where only ruins remain after more than seven months of war, aiming to seize an area that has once again come under the control of the extremist group Hamas. Israeli tanks and soldiers also moved towards the southern Gaza city of Rafah, where approximately 1.4 million displaced Palestinians have sought refuge. Reports indicate that the northern and southern fronts of Gaza have now become the scenes of the most intense clashes between the parties in recent weeks. Meanwhile, Israeli military operations in Rafah, which borders Egypt, have resulted in the cutting off of the main entry point to the Gaza Strip, making it harder for humanitarian aid groups to transfer assistance to the besieged enclave and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis there. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who had fled the war in various parts of Gaza to the south of the region have been forced to flee from there as well. The Gaza Health Ministry, controlled by Hamas, has urged the international community to pressure Israel to open access to the Gaza Strip through the southern border, thereby allowing humanitarian aid, medical supplies, fuel, and ambulances to enter the area. In a statement, the ministry said, 'Injured and sick individuals are dying a slow death due to the lack of medical equipment and the inability to exit the area.' According to a United Nations spokesperson, one foreign staff member of the organization was killed on Monday as a result of an attack on a vehicle heading to a hospital in Rafah, marking the first foreign casualty of the UN in the current Gaza war. On Monday, Israeli forces advanced in the Jabalia camp, which was established 75 years ago in northern Gaza for Palestinian refugees, an area that Israel claimed months ago to have driven Hamas militants from. Reuters reports that many residents of the camp fled to the streets with bags filled with their belongings. Israeli tanks simultaneously targeted the center of the Jabalia camp, which, according to Gaza health officials, left at least 20 dead. Israel also continued its airstrikes in eastern Rafah on Monday, which resulted in the deaths of residents in a house in the Brazil neighborhood. According to residents of the area, Israeli bombardments have intensified, and Israeli tanks have cut off the main north-south road that separates eastern Rafah from its center. The Israeli army states that it is in pursuit of the destruction of Hamas, a group listed as a terrorist organization by the United States and many other Western countries. Hamas forces killed 1,200 people in their attack on southern Israel on October 7 and took over 250 hostages. Following the surprise of October 7, Israel launched a widespread invasion of the Gaza Strip, which Palestinian sources claim has resulted in over 35,000 deaths.
