Israel Invites Intelligence Agencies to Review Iran's Nuclear Documents

The Israeli government, two days after the Prime Minister's press conference regarding the initial nature of Iran's military nuclear program, has invited delegations from several countries' intelligence and security organizations to Tel Aviv to view documents obtained from Iran. Simultaneously, the German Chancellor called on Wednesday for the documents received by Israel to be made available to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as soon as possible. However, she emphasized the need to preserve the JCPOA while also achieving another agreement with Iran. Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, revealed the archive of Iran's nuclear program during a press conference on Monday, asserting that 'contrary to years of false claims by the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran,' Tehran pursued its nuclear program with the aim of 'producing an atomic bomb and installing powerful nuclear warheads on ballistic missiles.' The Prime Minister stated that Iran, contrary to its promise to the international community to destroy its nuclear archive after the JCPOA, did not do so but continued its 'shameless lying' and transferred the archive to the Shourabad area (around Tehran) where it was hidden, and Israeli intelligence agents brought the entire archive to Israel two months ago. According to Israeli media reports, delegations from several countries' intelligence and security organizations have been invited to Israel to view these documents in Tel Aviv this week and receive necessary details from Israeli intelligence officials and the government. Reports indicate that Israel invited delegations from the UK, Germany, France, Italy, China, and Russia to send their intelligence organizations to Israel. Apparently, these delegations arrived in Tel Aviv on Wednesday. According to Ynet, Israel also requested representatives from the IAEA to visit Israel to see these documents and Iranian CDs. Officials from the CIA were not among the invitees as, according to Israeli media reports, Yossi Cohen, the head of Mossad, went to Washington shortly after the Iranian nuclear archive arrived in Israel and briefed President Donald Trump on this Israeli achievement. Benjamin Netanyahu also personally informed President Trump of further details from the documents received by Israel during a meeting on March 5 at the White House. Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State, who visited Israel on his first official trip in this position, heard from Netanyahu on Sunday that he would announce the Israeli intelligence achievement the next day. Pompeo, who was the head of the CIA until a few days ago, described the documents received by Israel as 'real.' The White House also emphasized on Tuesday that Iran lied to the IAEA and the international community regarding the nature of its nuclear program, and the JCPOA was based on Iran's false claims. However, Iranian officials mocked Netanyahu, stating that he 'does nothing but spread lies and deceit.' At the same time, Yair Lapid, a leader of the Israeli opposition and Netanyahu's main rival, criticized the Prime Minister on Wednesday for revealing Israel's intelligence achievement regarding Iran. According to Israeli media, Lapid stated in a speech in the Knesset that the Prime Minister harmed the intelligence system by 'revealing Israel's capabilities to the enemy, and Iran has been scrambling in the past 48 hours to close infiltration routes.' However, many officials and intelligence experts in Israel responded to Lapid in their media, stating that Yossi Cohen, the head of Mossad, was among those who agreed with the disclosure of this achievement. Angela Merkel: The JCPOA should be preserved, but another agreement should also be reached. Meanwhile, according to the Associated Press, Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, stated on Wednesday that the documents announced by Israel indicate that the JCPOA should be preserved. Merkel, who also visited Washington two weeks ago to meet with Donald Trump to advocate for preserving the JCPOA, added that other issues, such as Iran's influence in Syria, ballistic missile programs, and the future situation after the ten-year period of the JCPOA ends in 2015, could be addressed in another agreement. The German Chancellor also emphasized the importance of making the documents received by Israel available to the IAEA for review. Heiko Maas, the German Foreign Minister, also stated on Tuesday to his country's media that the Agency should review the information provided by Israel as soon as possible... to determine any violations of the agreement... because the agreement should be based on accurate information and work correctly. Maas emphasized that Israel's security is an important issue for Germany. Federica Mogherini, the EU foreign policy chief, the French Foreign Ministry, Boris Johnson, the British Foreign Minister, and the IAEA also issued separate statements on Tuesday in response to the unveiling of Iran's nuclear archive documents by the Israeli Prime Minister, emphasizing that these points relate to the past nature of Iran's nuclear program and actually validate the JCPOA, which should be preserved.
