Israel Regains 'Control' of Gaza Border; 1500 Hamas Fighters Killed

The Israeli army announced on Tuesday, about 72 hours after Hamas's attack, that it has finally regained control of its border with the Gaza Strip and has laid mines in areas where Hamas infiltrated to prevent their re-entry. Hamas fighters entered Israel from Gaza by blowing up part of the border barrier, killing hundreds of civilians. Reports indicate that Hamas fighters not only killed civilians but also sexually assaulted them, took many hostages including children, women, and the elderly, and carried the bodies of Israeli casualties back to Gaza. Meanwhile, about 300,000 Israeli reserve forces have also been mobilized for a possible ground invasion. Operations to find fighters who are feared to still be hiding inside Israel continued. According to reports, the death toll from the surprise Hamas attack and subsequent clashes with them in Israel has exceeded 900. More than 500 people are hospitalized, many of whom are in critical condition. Over 2,700 people were injured in the sudden attack by Hamas fighters on Saturday. The Israeli army stated that it has managed to close the borders and has laid mines around areas where the infiltrations occurred to counter further attacks. An Israeli army spokesperson said, 'On the last day, not a single terrorist entered through the fence.' Israeli officials say the bodies of 1,500 Hamas fighters have been found in southern Israel. According to Hamas health officials, hundreds have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza. The United States stated that Hamas behaved in Israel like ISIS; the Islamic Republic should not intervene. Ali Khamenei described Hamas's attacks as a 'heroic epic' and praised its planners. Macron stated that the Iranian officials' praise of Hamas is 'unacceptable.' The United Nations reported that about 200,000 people have been displaced in Gaza.
