Israel Rejects Houthi Claims of Attacks on Ships in Haifa Port

Houthi rebels in Yemen, supported by the Islamic Republic, claimed on Thursday, June 7, that they attacked several ships in Haifa port in Israel during two joint military operations with a militia group known as 'Islamic Resistance of Iraq.' According to the Jerusalem Post, the Israeli army has denied this claim. In this regard, Peter Lerner, a spokesperson for the Israeli army, stated that this matter is 'not true.' According to Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, the group initially targeted two ships carrying military equipment in Haifa port and in the second attack, targeted a ship that 'violated the decision to prohibit entry to the port.' The Houthis, who control Sanaa, the capital, and some regions of Yemen, have been attacking international ships in the Red Sea since last fall in solidarity with Hamas, another Tehran-supported group, during the Gaza war. These attacks have faced reactions from the United States and Britain, which have targeted Houthi military sites in Yemen. Yahya Saree stated on Wednesday that the group targeted three ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea in military attacks. The White House told Voice of America: Reports about the Houthis being equipped with hypersonic missiles are incorrect. The Houthis unveiled a missile similar to Iran's 'supersonic missile.' Hezbollah's attacks on northern Israel; the Houthis also claimed to have targeted the port of Eilat.
