Israel Reports Attack on Infiltrating Militants from Lebanese Territory

The Israeli army announced on Saturday that it targeted militants attempting to cross into its territory from the shared border with Lebanon. The Israeli army released a video on Friday showing attacks on militants who intended to cross from Lebanon into Israel. It is unclear which group these militants belong to. Meanwhile, Hezbollah announced on Friday that its militants had fired several rockets at four Israeli positions along the border, and Israel reported a drone strike against Hezbollah targets. Avichai Adraee, the Arabic-speaking spokesperson for the Israeli army, posted on social media platform X, stating, 'The Lebanese government is responsible for any attack launched from Lebanese territory against our sovereignty. Anyone attempting to cross the border into our land will be killed.' On Friday, during an exchange of fire between the Israeli army and Hezbollah militants, a Reuters cameraman named Issam Abdullah was killed in southern Lebanon, and six other journalists were injured. Gilad Erdan, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, immediately after the incident, told reporters that his country would investigate the killing of the Reuters journalist. Mr. Erdan stated, 'We always strive to minimize civilian casualties and prevent them. It is clear that we never want to hit or kill any journalist who is doing their job.' The Israeli ambassador to the UN added, 'But you know, we are in a state of war, and things can happen. We are upset about it. We are sorry. And we will investigate it. Right now, it is too early to say what happened there.' Richard Hecht, a spokesperson for the Israeli army, told the Associated Press on Saturday, 'We are aware of the incident involving the Reuters journalist, and we are looking into it.'
