Israel Seizes Cryptocurrency Accounts Linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps

Yoav Gallant, Israel's Defense Minister, stated on Tuesday that the country has seized digital accounts associated with the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Hezbollah in Lebanon, confiscating millions of dollars in cryptocurrency. The Times of Israel reported, citing Gallant, that the operation to seize these digital accounts took place a few days ago and was the first of its kind against assets linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Hezbollah in the form of cryptocurrencies. Israel has previously seized dozens of cryptocurrency accounts linked to Hamas. Hamas and Hezbollah are listed as terrorist organizations by Israel and several other countries. The Israeli Defense Minister noted that since the beginning of this year, members of Hezbollah, the Quds Force, and 'Syrian elements' have been using cryptocurrencies to finance their daily activities. Gallant mentioned that this money is provided by third parties and reaches terrorist groups through exchanges. The Islamic Republic of Iran provides extensive financial and military support to armed groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad and is recognized as a leading state sponsor of terrorism worldwide.
