Israel: Seven Injured Following Rocket Fired from Gaza Striking a House

The Israeli army reports that a rocket was launched from Gaza towards the center of the country, hitting a residential house. Rescue officials have stated that the rocket strike resulted in seven injuries. According to reports, sirens were heard followed by a loud explosion in the residential area of 'Sharon' on the morning of Monday, April 5. The Israeli army has stated that it is conducting an investigation into the incident. Israeli media, citing local rescue officials, report that the condition of a 59-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman is somewhat serious. Two children, aged 13 and 3, have also sustained injuries. The Sharon area is located between the Mediterranean Sea and Samaria. As reported by Israeli media, the rocket struck a house in the Moshav Mishmeret, located in the northeastern part of Tel Aviv. A Moshav is a type of village in Israel that includes shared farms. This recent event occurs just ten days after a rocket was launched towards Tel Aviv, Israel's densely populated economic capital. At that time, Israel conducted attacks on the Gaza Strip, leading to speculation about renewed hostilities between the two sides. However, hours later, Hamas leaders in Gaza stated that the rockets were launched by mistake. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the recent rocket launch, and it remains unclear whether this was also a 'mistake' or if one or more militant groups in Gaza carried out an 'attack.' Hamas controls the Gaza Strip, and other militant groups, including Islamic Jihad, which is supported by Iran and reportedly possesses a significant missile arsenal, are also present in the area. Israel and Hamas have engaged in conflict three times since Hamas took control of Gaza, the last being in 2014 when three Israeli teenagers were kidnapped and killed. Israel launched an operation known as 'Protective Edge,' and Hamas began firing rockets, leading to clashes that lasted nearly two months.
