Israel Targets Hezbollah Member in Southern Lebanon

The Israeli army announced on Saturday, March 9, that it had targeted a Hezbollah militant in southern Lebanon. According to the Israeli army, this militant was struck during an air raid. The identity of the individual has not been disclosed at the time of this report. This action comes a day after Israel targeted several military centers of this Iranian-backed armed group in its airstrikes. The Israeli army stated in a statement that its air force 'targeted a Hezbollah terrorist who was involved in rebuilding terrorist infrastructure and directing Hezbollah's terrorist activities in southern Lebanon.' Lebanese media also reported that Israeli drones attacked a vehicle in the area between the towns of 'Kherbat Selm' and 'Al-Jamiea' in southern Lebanon. Images released by these news sources show a vehicle engulfed in flames. On Friday, March 8, the Israeli army announced that it had targeted military fortifications of the Hezbollah group affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran in southern Lebanon. The Israeli army noted that in these attacks, military sites belonging to the terrorist organization Hezbollah, which housed weapons and missile launchers, were targeted and destroyed. Israel considered the weapons and launchers present at Hezbollah's military sites to be 'a threat to the country and its people' and emphasized that the storage of these weapons in southern Lebanon is 'a clear violation of agreements' between Israel and Lebanon. The official Lebanese news agency also confirmed the Israeli attacks on areas in the south of the country. Israel and Hezbollah have engaged in direct conflict since the onset of the war in Gaza. These conflicts last September and October resulted in the elimination of senior Hezbollah leaders and the deaths of many members of this Iranian-backed group. After the deaths of Hezbollah leaders, including Hassan Nasrallah, in Israeli attacks, both sides reached a ceasefire agreement on November 27 of last year. However, since the implementation of this agreement, Israel has accused Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire and has conducted attacks against the group's positions in southern Lebanon in response to what it claims are violations of the agreement.
