Israel to Houthis: You Will Face a 'Dark Fate' Like Iran's Proxies

Danny Danon, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, warned the Iranian-backed Houthis on Monday, ahead of a Security Council meeting, to stop their attacks on Israel for the 'last' time. Danon emphasized that if the Houthis do not cease their assaults, they will encounter a 'dark fate' similar to that of Hamas, Hezbollah, and Bashar al-Assad's regime. He clarified that his remarks are 'not a threat' but rather 'a promise.' Danon stated that if the 2,000-kilometer distance from Israel to Yemen is not enough to protect Israeli children from Houthi terrorist attacks, it certainly will not be sufficient for the terrorists to remain safe from Israel's power. The Israeli ambassador asserted that his country has the capability to strike any target in the Middle East, including in Iran, and will not tolerate attacks from the Islamic Republic's proxies. The UN Security Council convened on Monday to discuss 'threats to international peace and stability,' including the threats posed by the Houthis. Gideon Sa'ar, Israel's foreign minister, requested this meeting last week by sending a letter to the US ambassador to the UN, who holds the rotating presidency of the Security Council. The Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that the session would begin with a public discussion and then move to a closed session, where Danon would speak. In attendance will be Mohamed Khaled Khiari, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific. The Israeli army reported that the Iranian-backed Houthis have launched missiles at Israel at least six times in the past two weeks and have conducted over 200 missile attacks and 170 drone attacks against Israel in the past year. The Israeli foreign minister stated that the Iranian proxies have carried out relentless attacks against Israeli citizens and cities over the past year, disrupted international shipping lines, and engaged in hostage-taking, including UN staff. He called on all countries seeking global stability to add the Houthis to their lists of terrorist organizations. According to Gideon Sa'ar, 'The time has come for the international community to take action against the aggressions of the Houthis.' Following the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, the Houthis, alongside Hezbollah and other Iranian proxies, began their direct attacks on Israel and increased their assaults against ships in the Red Sea. In response, Israel has targeted the military positions of this group in Sana'a and the western coasts of Yemen multiple times, promising to subject them to the same fate as other Iranian proxies. The Security Council is examining the threat posed by the Iranian-backed Houthis, with renewed missile launches following Israel's attacks on Sana'a. The Israeli Prime Minister stated, 'Our work with the Houthis has only just begun.' The Israeli army confirmed that it targeted Houthi military positions in Yemen. Two Israeli media outlets reported that the head of Mossad called for an attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran. Gallant stated that the US and Israel must cooperate against the Houthis in Yemen.
