Israel Warns 'Head of the Snake' and Hezbollah: Our Patience is Running Out

Israel Katz, the Israeli Foreign Minister, stated in a letter to the United Nations Security Council that since the onset of the Gaza war, the Iranian government has intensified the shipment of weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon via Syria. In his letter on Thursday, Katz warned that Israel has an inherent right to defend its territory and citizens. According to the Israeli Defense Minister, the arms shipments by the Islamic Republic to Hezbollah constitute a 'flagrant violation' of UN Security Council resolutions 1701, 2231, and 1540. Katz's letter detailed that these weapons include components of air defense systems, drones (including Shahed-101 and Shahed-136), and several different missiles (including Mini-Ababil and anti-aircraft interceptor 358). The Israeli Foreign Minister referred to the Islamic Republic as the 'head of the snake' and warned in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that his country's patience for reaching a diplomatic solution regarding Hezbollah's actions is running out. The senior Israeli diplomat further threatened that if the information provided to the UN Security Council does not change the situation, his country will act immediately. Since the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people and the kidnapping of over 240 others, the Islamic Republic has repeatedly encouraged its proxy groups, including Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Iraqi Shiite militants, and the Houthis, to attack Israel and American positions in the region. In response to Hezbollah's attacks from southern Lebanon on northern Israel, Israel has repeatedly targeted the positions and facilities of this Iranian proxy group. Israel is also targeting the positions of the Revolutionary Guards, Hezbollah, and other Iranian proxies in Syria with greater intensity and frequency compared to the period before the October 7 terrorist attack. The Times of Israel reports that the official death toll of Hezbollah has reached 208. An Israeli media outlet reported the discovery of 'advanced technologies' belonging to the Islamic Republic under the UNRWA headquarters. American senators say that tensions between Hezbollah and Israel must be reduced. Hezbollah has vowed to take revenge on Israel. In response to rocket attacks, media reports indicate that three villages in Lebanon were bombed. A French diplomatic initiative for a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon was rejected by Hezbollah. Hezbollah's rocket fire towards Israel coincided with the arrival of the Iranian Foreign Minister in Lebanon. Israel shot down a 'suspicious aerial target' in the north of the country. The commander of the Israeli Air Force stated that if a war with Lebanon begins, the term 'attack' will not describe Israel's actions.
