Israel: We Sent 300 Liters of Fuel to Shifa Hospital; Hamas Took the Fuel

The Israeli army claims it supplied 300 liters of fuel for 'urgent medical supplies' to Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, but Hamas prevented the medical center from receiving it. The Times of Israel reports that early Sunday morning, Israeli forces placed fuel containers near Shifa Hospital as previously coordinated with hospital officials. However, according to a statement from the Israeli army, 'the Israel Defense Forces received evidence indicating that Hamas officials prevented the hospital from receiving this fuel.' The Israeli army released a conversation between an Israeli army officer and a senior health official in Gaza, stating that Youssef Abu Rish, the deputy health minister of Gaza, prohibited the hospital from receiving the fuel. Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari stated, 'We sent 300 liters of fuel to Shifa Hospital, but Hamas took it. We are in contact with hospital staff and wanted to help transfer newborns, but Hamas has obstructed this.' Hagari added that Israeli forces detained 20 Hamas operatives, who were transferred to Israel for questioning. He mentioned that a humanitarian route has been opened from hospitals to the south for the remaining Palestinians to move to a safe area. The Israeli army spokesman in the north stated that Israel is prepared to respond to any Hezbollah fire. 'Our focus is on the southern front and the war with Hamas, but we will not leave Hezbollah's attacks unanswered.' Jake Sullivan, the U.S. National Security Advisor, said on CBS News on Sunday that Hamas uses hospitals for military purposes. The U.S., the European Union, and Japan have designated the Hamas militia, which is supported by the Islamic Republic, as a terrorist organization. Chris Christie, a Republican candidate, stated in Israel that calls for a ceasefire are meaningless. Netanyahu stated that Hamas rejected Israel's request to provide fuel to Shifa Hospital.
