Israeli Ambassador to the UN: Security Council Should Sanction the Iranian Government

The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations described the Iranian government's request for a Security Council meeting as "shameless" and stated that the Islamic Republic is the "number one exporter of terrorism in the world." Danny Danon said that since October 8 of last year, the Islamic Republic has attacked Israel on several fronts: through Hezbollah from the north, through Hamas from the south, and via the sea by the Houthis. According to him, "the Iranian government must be held accountable for its efforts to destabilize the region. The Security Council must impose sanctions on the Iranian government and list the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization." The Israeli ambassador to the UN emphasized: "The Israeli government is in a just and defensive war that is unlike any other country. We do not accept moral preaching from a country that is a factory of terrorism." Following recent Israeli attacks in Lebanon, the Islamic Republic has called for a UN Security Council meeting. The Israeli army confirmed on Saturday that Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, was killed in an attack by its fighter jets on Hezbollah's main headquarters in southern Beirut. Smoke rose following the continued airstrikes by the Israeli army on Beirut. Hezbollah: Ali Korki, the commander of the southern front, was also killed in the Israeli attack. Nabil Qawuq, a senior Hezbollah official, was killed in the Israeli attack. Nasrallah's body was pulled from the rubble.
