Israeli Army Chief: We Are Prepared to Counter Threats from the Islamic Republic

The Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, General Herzi Halevi, stated that the military is fully prepared to respond to threats from the Islamic Republic following the deaths of several IRGC commanders in the Syrian capital. According to the Times of Israel, he mentioned that the country is 'in a multi-front war.' He said, 'There is no reason for fear, but there is also no room for complacency.' He emphasized that Israel must be aware of the situation and always be ready. The Israeli military commander noted, 'The Israeli army forces are prepared and operating in all arenas, in the south, north, Judea, Samaria, and in more distant areas. The Israeli army also knows how to deal with Iran in both offense and defense.' He stated that Israel is ready for this and has 'good defense systems; we know how to act powerfully against Iran in both distant and close points.' Halevi mentioned that Israel collaborates with the U.S. and strategic partners in the region. The Israeli military commander remarked that since the beginning of the Gaza war, 'Iran has tried to deny its direct involvement and remain hidden,' but according to him, Israel knows that the Iranian government is involved in activating, directing, financing, and transferring knowledge to all its proxy forces in the region, including Hezbollah. He stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a threat not only to Israel but to the entire Western and Arab world and has been a significant global problem then and now. The attack attributed to Israel on Monday, April 1, resulted in the deaths of seven senior members of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including Mohammad Reza Zahdi, the head of the Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon. Israel, following its recent practice, refrains from commenting on attacks attributed to it in Syria against the positions of the Islamic Republic and its proxy groups. After the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people and the hostage-taking of over 250 others, Israel launched an offensive against Gaza aimed at destroying this Islamic group supported by the Islamic Republic and freeing the hostages. Although the Iranian government has not directly attacked Israel in recent months, it has praised the ongoing attacks by its proxy groups against Israel and U.S. positions in the region and called for their continuation. The White House stated that the reduction of Israeli forces in southern Gaza is likely for 'rest and recuperation.' A senior advisor to Khamenei threatened Israeli embassies, stating that 'we must wait to see how it will unfold.'
