Israeli Army Commanders Recommend Political Leaders to Launch 'Preemptive Attack' on Islamic Republic and Hezbollah

Senior Israeli military officers have advised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant not to wait for an attack from the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah but to initiate another 'preemptive attack.' The Jerusalem Post reported on Monday, August 7, that Israeli officers, citing escalating tensions with the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah, told Netanyahu and Gallant, 'Considering all circumstances, the wise course of action now is to take the initiative and surprise the enemy with further preemptive strikes.' According to the report, several plans have also been presented by military commanders to Israeli political leaders, which are under review and evaluation, but the results of these assessments and potential decisions have not been disclosed. The level of tension between Israel and Hezbollah reached its highest point in recent months after Israel retaliated for the deaths of at least 12 of its children and teenagers in a Hezbollah airstrike on Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights by killing Foad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah commander and 'right-hand man' of Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of this Iran-backed group, in Beirut. A few days later, Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political bureau in Tehran, was killed. Iranian officials attributed this action to Israel, and Ali Khamenei emphasized 'vengeance' for him. Despite threats from the Iranian government and about a week passing since the killing of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the Islamic Republic has yet to respond to this act, which it attributes to Israel. Iranian media reported on the evening of August 7 that 'three explosions in succession' were heard in Sepahan Shahr, Isfahan, and some citizens of Isfahan shared images of these explosions on social media. Although the deputy political, security, and social governor of Isfahan attributed the explosions to 'training exercises,' some social media users believe these explosions were 'due to Israeli preemptive attacks' on an IRGC missile base, a claim that has not gone beyond discussions among social media users. The United States supported Israel's approach in ceasefire negotiations regarding Gaza. The U.S. stated it is preparing for 'all possibilities.' Yisrael Katz stated that the Iranian government informed Hungary that it would attack Israel. A 'NOTAM' warning was issued for aircraft: change your route from Iranian airspace; there is a possibility of GPS disruption. The IRGC claimed after a 'major defeat' that Ismail Haniyeh was killed by 'short-range projectile fire.' Clashes between Israel and Hezbollah continue; two Israeli soldiers were wounded, and two Hezbollah members were killed.
