Israeli Army Investigates Controversial Videos of Bodies Being Thrown from Rooftops in the West Bank

The Israeli army announced on Friday that it is investigating videos circulating on social media and in the media showing Israeli defense forces throwing the bodies of several individuals from a rooftop during an operation in the occupied West Bank. This incident occurred in the city of Qabatiya, west of Jenin, where the Israeli army has been conducting operations against Hamas forces in recent weeks. In the videos, Israeli soldiers are seen dragging, pushing, and even kicking the bodies of three deceased men from the top of a building. An Associated Press reporter who was present at the scene confirmed the incident. Additionally, the uncle of one of the deceased told Reuters that soldiers had gone to the rooftop after the men were killed. The Israeli army has described the incident as 'serious' and stated that this action is inconsistent with the values of the army and the standards expected of soldiers. Furthermore, the Israeli army announced on Thursday that seven militants were killed in armed clashes and an airstrike in Qabatiya. John Kirby, spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council, told reporters at the White House on Friday that he had seen at least one of these videos and found it concerning. He added, 'If it is proven that these are real, it clearly shows unacceptable and egregious behavior by professional soldiers.' Kirby stated that U.S. officials immediately contacted their Israeli counterparts to seek explanations. He said, 'They assured us that they would investigate this matter and take necessary actions if required. We are eagerly awaiting the results of the Israeli army's investigation and, as we always expect, the investigation should be thorough and transparent.'
